ADD-addled customers need something to train their Napoleon-like attention spans on? Buy a TV to keep 'em entertained while you bust your butt making their much-needed bits o' cakey deliciousness. Need a little more speed while running around? Buy yourself some new kicks. Additional accessories can help spread out your baking efforts or add value a cake on a cake stand has a 20% chance of being bought by a customer who sees it and avoids having to throw away a cake that was messed up or made wrong, which normally loses you money, while adding some decorative touches to a cake at a new station drives up the price of each of them and having a microwave on hand lets you toss out cupcakes to keep impatient customers happy.
Between months (read: levels), you can use profits garnered from customers to upgrade ovens or frosting machines, or add additional ones. Completed cake in hand, you wrap it up, they take their baked yumminess and leave behind some cash and, if you're fast enough, a tip to help finance upgrades to whichever of the five baking locales you've currently set up shop in. You pick the basic shape then take it over to get frosted, depending on the customer's tastes (you might end up throwing a decoration or a few more layers onto things) but that's the gist of it. You'll have to greet the myriad customer types, hand them a menu, and once they've decided what they want, you slap it together by heading to your oven. On a basic level, Cake Mania is about juggling customer demands with the resources you have on hand.
I'll moan a little about the controls in a bit, but the core idea should probably be presented first.
